What is Document Routing Agent?

Document Routing Agent is an application that enables network printing scenarios in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. It basically manages the spooling of documents to network printer devices.


How to Install the Document Routing Agent

Open the Manage network printers page (Organization administration > Setup > Network printers).

On the Options tab, in the Application group, click Download document routing agent installer.

Please follow the below screenshot 





After download an executable file double click to install it.

Important 
Minimum requirements to install Routing Agent are below
  • Windows Server 2012
  • Window 8

Close all browser instances that are running the Finance and Operations application. This resets the local Azure authentication tokens.

On your desktop, run the Document Routing Agent.

                                                          

On the toolbar, click Settings.


                              

Add the following settings Like the above screenshot:
  • Application ID – The ID that is unique to the application and should be entered automatically.
  • Finance and Operations URL – The base URL of the Finance and Operations application.
  • Azure AD tenant – The domain name of the Azure AD.

After registration of Tenant click on SignIn Menu Item to log in to your account for D365 for DRA Authorization.  Please check the below screenshots





How to Register network printers in Finance and Operations.


  1. On the toolbar, click Printers.
  2. Select the printers to make available in the Finance and Operations applications.



Now  Open the Manage network printers page (Organization administration > Setup > Network printers).

              


Edit the Printer from the list page and make it active and enjoy Centralized printing from D365FO.

    In the services 'Microsoft Dynamics 365 Document Routing Service' which logon user needs to be used? We determine that it is only working with a domain admin user, is that correct? Which permissions does this user need? Because with the local admin account it is not working, we tested several times.

    Can we use DRA in D365 F&O On premises environment.? I am trying for the same but getting error. "The resource principal name not found in tenant name" I have register application in AAD with the same URL i am using here. https://ax.d365ffo.onprem.*****.com/namespaces/AXSF.

    1. Hello Akshay,

      I think maybe when you enter the URL you must stop at "...dynamics.com". Similar to as seen in the blog post photo above. Everything after the .com may cause it to not work correctly.
